Scouting is a program with a purpose.   It is a way for youth to gain strong ethics, moral fiber, and duty to God, all while learning valuable skills...and it is a way to develop future leaders.   The world has changed, but the basic concepts of Scouting have remained constant, with values, aims, and methods that continue to mold boys into exceptional adults.

About Troop 671
Troop 671 was founded on 6/15/1951 with 7 scouts under the leadership of Scoutmaster Bob Nelson. Mr. Nelson led the troop as Scoutmaster until 1977 and had weekly meetings in the old Fire Hall next to the Post Office. The troop has had many outstanding leaders that have kept the BSA program operating for over 50 years. The troop now has around 60 active scouts and 30 active adult leaders. Today the troop meets at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren and performs many community service projects annually, including posting flags along the main street in Nokesville for major holidays, decorating the community Christmas tree and beginning in September, 2014 will be responsible for Fitzwater Drive and Marstellar Drive as part of the Adopt A Highway program. This scout led troop goes camping at least once a month during the normal scout season from September through July and participates in many water sports with the troop owned canoes and sail boat. Other activities include rappelling, caving, hiking, biking, and fishing. With all of these activities available, these young men still find time to work on rank advancement. Since 2007 more than 25 scouts have achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. If your son is interested in the outdoors, Troop 671 is a great place for opportunities that many young boys never dream of.
